The artist's experiences and study in China have provided him with the framework to connect Chinese sensibilities of design to various ways in his work. "My temples are abstracts of my fusion of pagodas, western utilitarian ceramics, and Christian iconography and beliefs," Birkhimer says.

MATERIAL THOUGHTS: RECENT WORK BY CATHERINE WHITE AND WARREN FREDERICK
This show focused on Catherine White’s recent wood fired clay tripods and triplets, as well as text plates, ripped edge vases and collaged drawings. Warren Frederick’s austere ceramics are accompanied by wooden and photographic constructions derived from rough, organic chucks of nature.
